I bought a Secretlab Titan XL “Gaming” Chair

I work from home and sit on my ass a lot. I’m trying to change that by being a bit more active and taking up casual cycling, but for the times I have to sit at a desk I want to be comfortable, damnit. Don’t get me wrong, my ergoCentgric tCentric Hybrid Mesh Back chair is okay, but the seat isn’t deep enough. And having neuropathy in my left leg as the result of my near-death accident in St. Thomas, if the seat isn’t deep enough, after an hour or two my leg is tingly and numbing.

Being on the heavier side, I also want a chair that is not only comfortable, but is going to support my Reuben-esque frame for the long haul. I’ve had several other chairs where the piston would just wear out after a year or so… in fact, I have the actual seat from another brand of gaming chairs, Andaseat, for that very reason. The piston kept wearing out so I took the frame off and gave it to my Cat. She finds the AndaSeat to be purr-fect.

Enter the Secretlab Titan XL:

Of course, the embroidered T just fits my last name perfectly. 😉

Supposedly, this chair supports people up to 390 lbs. While I’m well under that, I find that getting a chair that supports people heavier than me will have a frame and cushioning that’s heavy-duty enough to last a few years, maybe longer.

Because of the pandemic, a lot of people are working from home and figuring out the chair they probably had in their home office before isn’t cutting it. As such, Secretlab takes orders and ships them as they are produced. Knowing it could take a few months to get my chair, I went ahead and ordered it. Lo-and-behold, it arrived just earlier in the week, despite a projected ship date of July!

Thanks Secretlab!

On to the packaging! I love fancy packaging and these boxes must cost a small fortune to print because the K (black) ink coverage on the exterior of these boxes is so dense:

Assembly took 20-30 minutes, I have to say I was surprised because the Ergocentric tCentric Hybrid I have is a pain in the ass to assemble.

Here’s the chair fully assembled and in my office:

So far, I have to say the chair is supremely comfortable and supportive. It is definitely built like a tank and feels like it will last for a long time. Hopefully that is the case.

Though, if not, Secretlab does give you a 5 year warranty, which I hope I don’t have to use, but is nice to know.

If you’re a bigger person and looking for a chair that is durable and going to hold your curves, this chair warrants a closer look from you for sure!

5/5 rating for comfort, speed of delivery, and ease of assembly. Plus, the cat doesn’t seem to care for the fabric, so I shouldn’t have to worry about it being shredded like a tapestry!

Thanks Secretlab!
